Fall 2018-2019 Parking Registration Dates

2018-2019 Fall/Annual parking registration is now open.

Dates Classification
July 23 at 10am Graduate, GI students
July 30 at 10am Graduate, GI students & students with 90+ credits (Seniors)
August 6 at 10am Graduate & GI students & students with 60+ credits (Juniors)
August 13 at 10am Registration becomes available to all students*
(regardless of classification)
*Resident freshmen are not permitted to park on campus; however, these students may request an exception to this policy. More info about the Freshman Exception Process will be posted on or before July 1

Eligibility

Commuters and resident students with a class standing of sophomore and above (30+ credits) are eligible to register for parking. Freshman resident students are not eligible register for parking, but may apply for an exception under certain circumstances. Here is more information on Freshman Exceptions.

All current student parking registrants may use Lot 4 as overflow parking when their own lot is full. Please refer to the regulations for more information.

Courtyards residents are encouraged to use Shuttle-UM service to move between Courtyards and campus. If a student living at Courtyards wishes to register for campus parking, they must pay the resident student parking fee. This sustainability initiative was established to reduce the number of cars on campus and to encourage students to choose a more environmentally friendly commute.

Athletic Restrictions

Important parking information during athletic events

Lot 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 11 and SDG registrants will be required to relocate or park their vehicles in an alternate parking area for basketball, football and some other special events. Please check the Athletics page for information specific to your lot.

Commuter Student

University of Maryland commuting students are assigned to a commuter parking lot based on their class standing and lot availability. Please note, overnight parking is prohibited in all commuter lots.  Commuters wishing to park overnight must register for Lot 5, 7 or 11.

Overnight Storage Parking

Please note: commuter registrants may not park or store their vehicles overnight in Lots 1, 4, 6, 9, 11, or Stadium Drive Garage.

Students who reside off campus including students living in apartments and housing complexes immediately adjacent to campus who wish to park on campus overnight must register for either Lot 5, 7, or 11. Space availability in each lot is limited.

Where is Lot 5
Lot 5 is located directly across Lot 4B off of Paint Branch Drive. Lot 5 will be enforced 24/7.

Relocating for Football Athletic events: Lot 5 registrants will be required to relocate their vehicles to Mowatt Lane Garage by midnight on the Friday before a home football game. Student may begin moving their vehicles at noon that Friday.

Where is Lot 7
Lot 7 is located off of Rossborough Lane and Rt 1, behind lots K1 and across K2. Lot 7 will be enforced 24/7. Lot 7 will not be affected by athletic events.

Where is Lot 11
Lot 11 is located on Paint Branch Drive, across the Xfinity Center. Lot 11 will be enforced Monday – Friday from 7am-4pm. Lot 11 registrants will be required to relocate their vehicles to Mowatt Lane Garage by 5 p.m. on the Friday before all home football games.

Motorcycles & Scooters

Motorcycle and Scooters must be registered with DOTS to be parked on campus. DOTS certified Motorcycle helmet and eye protection will be required. For more information about parking rules and regulations, please visit the Motorcycle and Scooter page.

Bundle Pack Permits

Bundle pack permits are the perfect solution for commuter students who might need to drive a vehicle to campus occasionally. Each bundle pack contains 10 one-day parking permits and costs $75. To be eligible for these permits, you must not have a Department of Transportation Services' parking registration. You may purchase a bundle pack at the DOTS Office in Regents Drive Garage.

Students using these permits may park in lot 4 & 6.

Temporary Medical Permits

If you have a medical condition that requires a different parking arrangement than that to which you have been assigned, you may contact the Health Center. The health center will evaluate your case and recommend a medical accommodation if necessary. This typically results in permission to park in any student lot.
